On March 30, 2023, JAMB held the 2023 Mock-UTME in 725 locations around the country. As expected, there were some issues with the exercise in a few centers, preventing some candidates from taking the test. These applicants will not be charged for the rescheduled exam, which will take place at a later time. The Board would examine every issue raised by the pretend exercise and take appropriate action to make it better and more enhanced.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board created the Mock-UTME in order to give the Board the chance to evaluate new technologies that will be utilized for the primary examination and to give applicants first-hand experience with the CBT setting.
The exercise, which was initiated more than six years ago, gave the Board a rare chance to test out innovations that considerably enhanced the Board’s capacity to give assessments of the highest caliber. Recall that the Board had revealed in a statement before to the performance of the 2023 exercise that it would be adding some new metrics that had never been used before and would wish to take advantage of the mock exercise to evaluate their functionality.
The Board would like to use this opportunity to express its regret to all candidates for any inconvenience this may have caused them. This is a step in a process that aims to strengthen the Board’s efforts to raise the caliber, safety, and sanctity of its services and to use those same efforts to announce the next stage of its transformational strategy.
The exercise also provided the Board with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to improve this procedure. The Board thanks the applicants and their parents for their understanding and promises to work to perfect the system in which their sacrifice was made.
The benefits from the exercise cannot be measured because the Board has noted the difficulties raised and has, as a result, been better prepared to offer a smooth UTME process in April 2023 in accordance with its estimates. The Board will keep pleading for candidates’ and the public’s understanding as it works tirelessly to come up with fresh ideas and improved strategies for raising the standard of large-scale evaluations in Nigeria.
