The Tower Primary School in the state’s Oba region has been shut down by the government of Anambra due to allegations that it participated in test fraud during the 2023 Transition Placement Examination.
Nnaemeka Egwuonwu, the Ministry of Education’s Public Relations Officer, released a statement to announce this on behalf of the government. The school was closed down, according to the statement, after an investigation into a complaint of test misconduct brought against Precious Chibuzo, a parent teacher association (PTA) teacher who oversaw the exam at the Umuogali Community Primary School in Oba.
The Tower Academy Oba’s proprietress, Kosisochukwu Igwe, colluded with students in the misconduct by sneaking into the exam room and taking a photo of the exam question paper, which was solved, and the answers given to the candidates, according to Triumphant Cross School Oba students who disclosed the misconduct to the ministry.
While Chibuzo Precious, a PTA instructor who had previously admitted to the wrongdoing, was fired from the school, Kosisochukwu, who had admitted to the offense, begged for forgiveness.
All candidates involved in the center will be required to retake the exam, which will be monitored by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh.
