The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) chapter at Taraba State University has announced a complete and indefinite strike in protest of the government’s failure to pay employees’ deserved wages and allowances.
Dr. Samuel Shitaa, the TASU chairman of ASUU, claimed that the state government’s denial of charges that it owes workers wages made the strike necessary.
The union complained that the government had not paid its deserved academic allowances, promotion backpay, employee salaries that were paid in installments, and an unresolved staff pension and gratuity plan.
Shitaa continued, citing the institution’s perimeter fence and the failure to carry out agreements as further justifications for the industrial action.
