The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON), the regulatory body of activities related to building matters in the country, has granted full accreditation to the Department of Building Technology of the Federal University of Technology, Akure to continue the teaching and training of students for the programme for the next five years effective January 31st, 2023.
This follows the report of the panel of accreditation after its visit to the institution recently to assess the quality of the Building Technology programme being run by the institution.
The panel during it’s visitation in June 2021 considered issues relating to academic matters, physical facilities, staffing, funding, library and employers rating and found the programme worthy of full accreditation.
Conveying the approval to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, the Registrar and Secretary to Council, CORBON, and a Fellow of the Institute, Builder Adetunji Adeniran wrote “Following the accreditation visitation to your institution held from June 27- June 30, 2021, the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) considered and accepted the report of the Accreditation Panel at its 119th meeting. Council has therefore, in exercise of its powers under Section 12 (1) b of the Builders Registration, Act Cap B13 LFN 2004, granted full accreditation for the Building Programme of your university for the next five (5) years, with effect from January 31st, 2023.”.
Reacting to the development, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji commended the objective assessment by CORBON and assured that FUTA will continue to do its best to ensure all accreditation standards are met for its programmes so as to give the best training to students through effective teaching and research.
She commended the staff and students of the Department of Building Technology for doing their best to attain the feat.
