65 prisoners will graduate from NOUN this year.
At the National Open University of Nigeria's (NOUN) upcoming 12th convocation ceremony, no fewer than 65 prisoners from around the nation are expected to get their diplomas. Prof. Olufemi Peters, vice chancellor of the institution, made this information public.
58 of the prisoners are undergraduate students, while seven are postgraduate students who are studying for free because the university offers them scholarships as part of its social responsibility and gives them the opportunity to support themselves after serving their sentences, according to the VC.
In order to encourage students and parents to attend from the centers close to them, he said the convocation would take place concurrently in the 114 study centers of the university around the nation.
